We fix all SONY models laptop power sockets/jacks usually in 24hrs if the particular socket is in stock. How does a power socket get damaged? The most common cause is the power supply cable being stepped on and bending the plug so much that the power socket inside the laptop is ripped out of the motherboard.
A sure sign of a power socket being damaged is that when you jiggle the power plug the laptop loses power (you will notice the battery charging light go on and off).
A power socket fix is not an easy one as the whole laptop has to be stripped to the motherboard in most cases and a new power socket has to be soldered onto it.
This is a timely and very fine excercise which should not be attempted if you have no laptop repair experience as you can cause in some cases terminal damage to your laptop. |
